Overview

St. Finn Barr Catholic School is dedicated to preparing young diverse minds for a future as critical thinkers, lifelong learners, and compassionate children of God.

Faith is the heart of everything we do. Students participate in daily prayer, weekly Mass, and monthly Family Masses. Our Catholic Social Teaching lessons and service projects help students live out the Gospel values of compassion, justice, and stewardship. Second graders prepare for their First Reconciliation and First Communion, while eighth graders take part in Confirmation preparation and retreat led by our parish.

Morning Assembly

St. Finn Barr School provides regular opportunities for the school community to experience prayer and the sacraments. Each school day begins with an assembly for morning prayer, including a student-lead reading reflection from the saints, scripture passages, and writings of religious people. During this assembly, we remember and pray for the community’s intentions (i.e. people devastated by natural calamities) before reciting the prayer of St. Francis together. The principal uses the morning assembly to help students center themselves in prayer each day.

Classroom Prayer

Occurs in the morning, before meals, and throughout the day. It provides students an opportunity to pray for their special intentions, emphasizing the opportunity to put their faith and trust in God. Classroom prayer corners and bulletin boards reflect students’ faith lives and emphasize the centrality of God in all we do.
