Admissions Timeline

Kindergarten Dates

November 7, 2025 - Currently Enrolled Family Applications Due

December 5, 2025 - Priority Application Deadline 

January 2026 - Kindergarten Assessment Day (by invitation only)

January 30, 2026 - Acceptance Emails sent by 4:00 p.m.

Your Enrollment Decision/Registration:

Kindergarten admission decisions are due to the school by 4:00 p.m. on February 6, 2026, and one week after acceptance offers are offered.

August 2026 - Welcome to the Shamrock Family! New Family Welcome Event, hosted by SFB Parent Clubs. Date to be announced. 

August 19, 2026 - The Academic Year Begins! 


Grade 1-8  Dates

November 21, 2025 - Currently Enrolled Family Applications Due

November 2025-March 2026 - Shadow Dates, Shamrock For A Day

January 30, 2026 - Priority Application Deadline 

Beginning February 27, 2026, applicants will be notified of their admission or waitlist status, based on available classroom space.

Your Enrollment Decision/Registration:

1st-8th Grade admission decisions are due to the school by 4:00 p.m., one week after acceptances are offered.

August 2026 - Welcome to the Shamrock Family! New Family Welcome Event, hosted by SFB Parent Clubs. Date to be announced. 

August 19, 2026 - The Academic Year Begins! 


How to Apply

Step 1: Schedule a Visit

We encourage all prospective families to experience St. Finn Barr Catholic School firsthand. Schedule a campus tour or attend one of our events to meet our community and learn more about our programs.

 If none of our available tour times fit your schedule, please email info@stfinnbarr.org, and we will be happy to work with you to arrange a convenient visit.

Step 2: Complete Your Application

Submit your online application along with any required documentation. Applications are accepted throughout the year as space permits.

Step 3: Student Assessment or Visit

Kindergarten applicants participate in a readiness assessment designed to help us get to know your child.

Applicants for Grades 1–8 may be invited to participate in a Shadow Day or student visit, providing an opportunity to experience life as a Shamrock.

Step 4: Admissions Decision & Registration

Accepted families will receive registration materials and enrollment instructions. Once registration is complete, your child officially becomes part of the St. Finn Barr family!


Ready to Become a Shamrock?

Kindergarten Admissions

We are excited to welcome our youngest Shamrocks!

Kindergarten applicants should:

  • Be five years old by September 1
  • Submit an application for priority consideration
  • Participate in a Kindergarten readiness assessment

Accepted students and their families will be invited to special events throughout the spring to help ease the transition into Kindergarten and build connections within our community.

Transfer Students (Grades 1–8)

St. Finn Barr welcomes transfer students throughout the school year as space allows.

Prospective transfer families are encouraged to:

  • Schedule a campus tour
  • Submit an application and academic records
  • Participate in a student visit or Shadow Day

Our staff works closely with new families to ensure a smooth transition into our school community.


Registration & Admissions Priority

Priority Registration

Once accepted, families will receive enrollment instructions and registration forms to secure their child's place for the upcoming school year.

Admissions Priority

In accordance with the policies of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, admissions priority is generally given to:

  • Current St. Finn Barr families
  • Siblings of current students
  • Active parish families
  • New applicants

Applications are considered based on available space and completion of the admissions process.
